インターネットのE-text――カナダ・マクマスター大学経済思想史E-textの紹介――

今回は，経済思想史のまとまったE-textがあるサイトを紹介する。カナダ・マクマスター大学のそれである（同じファイルがイギリス・ブリストル大学(http://fisher.ecn.bris.ac.uk/het/index.htm)にもある。これはマクマスター大学のミラーサイトである）。マクマスター大学は大学としてのインターネットサービスが充実していることでも知られている。(http://www.mcmaster.ca/)。目指すE-textは社会科学部(Faculty of Social Sciences)の経済学科(Department of Economics)にあり，学部レベルの教材の一部として公開されている(Undergraduate Course Material)。Economics 3LL3 -- History of Economic Thoughtがそれである(http://socserv2.socsci.mcmaster.ca/~econ/ugcm/3ll3/index.html)。
以下にテクストのリストを掲げる（いずれも省略した表記になっている）。これらはうえに触れたように学生の教材用に開発されたものではあるが，WWWサーバーにこれらの資料をおき，広く一般に開放しているところに特徴がある。欧米のE-textはおしなべてこの教材目的で作成されはじめたケースが多い。著作の選定やテクストクリティークをも含めた研究対象としてのE-textには十分ではない面があるにせよ，従来ならばなかなか入手しがたいテクストが気軽に読めるようになった意義は大きい。インターネットの積極的活用が喧伝される現在，ここに見られるテクストの公開がいまだ個人的労力に依存せざるをえないことに関しては，同じ研究者として無関心ではいられない。国際的規模での協力体制の整備が急務といえるだろう。ちなみに維持・管理しているのはマクマスター大学のスタッフの一員であるRod Hay(rhay@mcmaster.ca)である。
